I stepped out of my abode and into the hall that connected every private chamber for me and my fellow independent deities at Psyops. I was just moving into the planning room that presided behind the Command Center when fate deemed I stop in my tracks.
I heard a buzzing noise, a faint blip sounding out in the room and turned my head towards the source of it. The table surrounded by high chairs in the middle of the white, clear room. The table had multiple interfaces built into it. Screens for sharing images and getting closer looks at whatever was shared across the consoles and the big screen behind the table. It had buttons on the sides of the screens for taking calls. I saw the noise was coming from mine in specific, right in front of my chair at the table...
"One incoming call" it said. I'd never seen anyone but Hale honestly taking 'calls' on these things. I decided to answer, and pressed a button. The screen remained dark, and I saw nothing on it.
But I heard something over it.
Labored breathing... right into whatever speaker was on the other side, I presumed.
[???] "Heehhhh. Guhhhaaa... huuu... You saw the Tower of the Gods, did you not?"
'...'
[???] "I know you're listening... you answered when I called. There is no need to be shy."
'And what if I did? Who is this? How did you call this place?'
[???] "That's not important... what's important is what I have to tell you. If you would but listen to me, for this short moment alone. Must listen to me, just for now. Then, I will tell you. Guhhhhhh..."
'Alright...'
[???] "You saw it, in all its magnificence, didn't you? Right up close."
'I did happen to. But how would you know that?'
[???] "What did you think of it? The Axis Mundi? That place connecting Heaven and earth togeth-guuhhh." The voice asks me, dodging the question.
