>>5659354I guess the question is, whether or not the Gothic aesthetic on some of the DAoT stuff (Knights, Mars Pattern, the decorations on Dorn's Phalanx) was something designed and inherent to the ancients from the start, or if that was just added on during the age of strife by the remnant humans in a search for religious meaning in the face of horror.
Kind of like how practical Roman architecture eventually gave way to Medieval Castles and aesthetic during the real Dark Age.
You did confirm that Knights were actually just originally the multipurpose construction vehicles of ancient colonial efforts repurposed into tools of war and fuedal control (i.e. chainswords originally meant to cut down swathes of trees and weapons to deal with hostile fauna).
But did the ancients built them to actually look like knights or more like proper construction vehicles, and only later when the pilots decided to style themselves as knights did they modify them to look knightly? Strapping on banners, pauldrons, colors, etc.
Or maybe the ancients just really liked the idea of knights going out and conquering stuff like conquistadors, as a human alternative to Men of Iron for brave adventurers.
