You head to the central lift along with Fisher and Yegor. Fabian stays on the bridge to talk to the captain while Shade gives orders to his men through comms. The descent is short, and you say goodbye to Fisher and Yegor once you reach your destination. The three of you part ways and head to your battalions, guided by the ship through your helmet datalinks. It takes several minutes to navigate the corridors and rooms, but eventually you reach the area where your men are barracked. You quickly contact Beck to get a status update, and directions to the other commanders.
All is well and the men are getting settled in. Beck’s already deep into the work of requesting extra ammunition and supplies from the ship, so you’ll leave him to it. According to him, Joyce is on the shooting range, Goto is in the mess hall, Loge in the common room, and Boxer in in the gym. You might as well check in on all of them while you’re here.
First up is the shooting range. Joyce and several of the men are already there, firing their rifles at targets of varying distance. Each man gets a wide square box in which training remotes are ducking and weaving across, some larger than others or with attached targets. When you enter the room you stop at the safety railing to observe for a few moments, and it soon becomes obvious that Joyce is far outstripping his men, even accounting for the fact they’re shinies. He lands a bullseye on every one, seeming almost robotic in his movements as he targets and fires. When the training is done you hop the barrier and approach him, waving as you do.
>Joyce! Good work. Where’d you learn to shoot like that?
He shrugs. “Nowhere in particular. Just a thing I’ve picked up over the years. Helped keep me alive more than once. Though I’m no match for the commandos or ARCs like Boxer.”
>That’s still some impressive shooting. I was on Geonosis too, remember, and I don’t even think I could do so well.”
He shrugs again, this time with a smile on his face. “You never know. I’d like to see how you compare. We could make a competition out of it.
>You’re on.
