>>5644729>Chat with him about Varoom. Having a friend has been great for him, he probably has a lot to talk about, and you could give him tips on raising it."Can't believe it's only been a week, feels a lot longer than that. How's raising Varoom been?"
He looks to the Pokéball on his belt.
"Great! I think he was definitely the right Pokémon for me, he really likes taking the long walk to the restaurant. Makes it less of a slog to travel places too, when I have a companion. He'd feel cooped up at home if I didn't go out so often, so it's good that I have a reason to."
"Perfect. Yeah, getting a partner who fits your lifestyle is an important decision. A lot of Pokémon can struggle to adjust if someone's daily routine changes significantly."
You think back to breakfast, and how your two cooking companions scarfed down food.
"I think I might have already asked you this, but I don't remember. Does Varoom need to eat anything special? I know Poison-types can be hard to feed, and Steel-types too."
"Oh, I went to look it up. Apparently, they can subsist fully off rocks and minerals in the places they're located in. They can cling on to these for most of their lives, and extract nutrients from them to turn into fuel."
"So you don't have to feed him?"
"I still do. Supplements and things like that are necessary, and help stop the rocks from being ground down as fast. Which helps, because I wouldn't know how to replenish them if they did. Won't happen for a few years though."
"I see. I assume it's food that Poison-types can synthesize? Or things that are high in minerals?"
"Yeah, how'd you know?"
"Scyther needs food that has a lot of calcium. It's for his shell. One day, he could evolve into a Scizor too, so I've done research before into the kind of trace metals he would need in a diet. But that's about all I looked into, haven't pursued that possibility very far yet."
You drive through muddy roads, making sure to slow down so that it doesn't splash mud everywhere. You don't want it being churned up and getting all over the back of your truck bed. The path is different, and you slow down to read the GPS every so often. You notice that the trees are a little closer together here, and at one point, you see a creek billowing past the side of the road. It runs parallel to it for a little bit, before arcing off into the woods. Probably from the huge rainfall yesterday.
"Have you done much battling with Varoom?"
"Not that much. Just some wild Pokémon around town, but nothing major. I at least know his moves, though. How long have you had Scyther?"
"Couple years, he was with me since the later half of my apprenticeship. You'll get closer to him in time, and learn more about each other."
"I hope so. I can't wait to go out and travel with him. And evolve him."
