Marc and Cindy pulled away from each other, and the Moon Knight seemed to consider this for a moment. “He’s never chastised me for my behavior when it comes to taking lives. There were even times when he encouraged brutality. I only kill those that deserve it. Murderers, rapists, the physically abusive. Anyone who causes harm to an innocent under the light of the moon, really.” he explained.
“As far as I am aware, you are not yet one of those people. All of your killings have been those of gangsters, criminals, and mercenaries of the like, correct?” he asked.
You thought back on your life thus far, bringing up every face that you could remember. The faces of dead men. Some haunted you to this day, but most didn’t. They were in the ground now. Dead and gone. Lived as nobodies and became ashes in the wind.
You nodded slowly.
“So long as it stays that way, you and I will have no quarrel.” he declared. “But watch yourself, Huntsman. You are walking a slippery slope, and when you slip up, I will be there.”
You nodded slowly once more. It wasn’t a threat. There was no malice or contempt behind it. The Moon Knight just made you a promise that he fully intends on carrying out, should the time come.
The mood became heavy then, and you noticed that Matt was starting to become upset. So, you changed the topic once more.
“Let’s talk shop.” you suggested, drawing everyone’s attention. “Vampires. What’s the best way to kill them?”
Marc rested his head on one hand and leaned to the side slightly. “What do you know of them so far?” he asked.
You relayed everything that you'd heard from Morbius, Cindy and Louise. He nodded, reached into his jacket pocket and brandished a tiny crescent blade.
“Most people know about crosses being effective in repelling vampires. Even fewer know that any religious symbol can be deadly in the hands of a true believer.” he said, holding the blade up so the reflection of the moonlight danced on its shimmering surface. “And very few know that ‘any’ symbol will work, so long as it is widely recognized as a symbol of that God, and your faith is genuine. So, these will work against them.”
Cindy gave him a questioning look and pulled out her Moonrang.
“Try it out next time.” he advised. “Considering your upbringing, I won’t doubt your faith.”
While Cindy went to add this new information to her Vampire Diary, Marc refocused his attention on you and Matt.
“As for any additional methods, I do believe that you will have better luck approaching Louise with that issue. She is…quite creative when it comes to killing vampires. I’ve seen her use holy water hand grenades, crossbows that launch garlic roasted stakes, and silver plated glue traps.” Marc said, listing off Louise’s accomplishments one by one. “Apparently, she makes them herself.”
Damn! Why is it that the cults and secret orders have all the coolest shit!?
