>>5141092You spoke first, breaking the silence. "That language… what is it?" You asked, unsure if it would coax her into talking. Her face scrunched up, clearly not happy by your question. But then a serenity spread across her, like a cold breeze she watched you with distant eyes. The girl had entered her shell, just like you could. Her eyes confessed more than her words. Even through the walls of her mind, you could make out the pain and hurt in her eyes.
<span class="mu-r">"That's a bit of a silly question… you were the one who taught it to me."</span> Her alien words stole the breath from your lips, it strangely hurt your heart. She grinned faintly, reminiscing about something you couldn't. But you didn't know why. "I don't remember." You admit, the girl flinching against the words.
Her head dropped shaking from side to side softly as her barrier faltered. You couldn't help feeling sympathy for the girl, whatever you had done. She hadn't forgotten it. "I brought him along though." Pulling your hand from your pocket, you showed the girl the small toy. She sniffled, glancing up. Tears welling in her eyes, she choked out a little sob. You own sullen sadness started to stir. From her own pocket she produced a small red toy, a dinosaur with a large spine along it's back. You recognized it. But you didn't know how. You remember it being bigger in your small hand. It looked tiny.
<span class="mu-r">"Look who I've got…"</span> The alien words low but easy to understand in the quiet room. She stood up suddenly, the chair rocketing back and knocking into her desk. You jumped at the explosive movement, before you could really react she was stalking toward you.
You went to stand up, hands raising in an attempt at self defense. Once the beating started you'd make as much as noise as you could. She knocked you back onto the bed, both arms wrapping around you. She shook violently as she pressed her face into your chest. Sobbing loudly into your clothes. Pain throbbed weakly up your side, but against you panicked thoughts your own arms worked around her. Squeezing the crying pilot.
<span class="mu-r">"It'll be fine Ruki, it's not you fault. I shouldn't have..."</span> You own tongue easily retraced the words. The sick feeling didn't return this time, the trembling of the girl keeping it at bay. You were unsure why. It scared you. Despite the wet tears soaking your chest you couldn't help feeling warm again. Her voice came softer than you could expect.
<span class="mu-r">"Pr-promise me… you won't forget… not again."</span> She sobbed harder, trying to bury herself into your chest as her long legs wrapped around you. You were unsure what else to do, what would even stop you from forgetting. You had already forgotten once. You thought about leaving.
