>>6239688You move in towards where Bart had landed, bobbing and weaving all the way. At the last moment, you launch a spinning back fist that connects with his jaw, leaving the man completely dazed and disoriented. He counterattacks with a jab, which you easily brush aside, barely feeling the weight of the blow. You had to admit, fighting like this was not entirely unenjoyable. While you’d have preferred the feel of your axe in hand, there was a sort of primal simplicity to this that spoke to you. There were few who took to the art of fighting with their fists, but they were not unheard of. These warriors would equip not weapons, but gauntlets, and their blows were powerful enough to punch through steel. Perhaps such a style might suit you?
>Tristain: 58/67 HP>Bart: 10/58 HPAs Bart stumbles to the floor, Nadia has taken the initiative in blowing up the second Bergliez Knight. Deprived of his bow, the man can only stare slack-jawed as the sorceress lances him with a beam of magic. The cage radiates with light as he is torn apart helplessly. Cuthbert meanwhile, stands there, once more allowed to enjoy a reprieve from any actual fighting.
“Damn, you’re good alright.” Bart says, a bloody grin on his face. He takes up a shaky pugilist stance. “I’d have loved to have fought you with a weapon in hand…but I suppose there’s no helping it in this accursed place.”
>“Are you sure you want to do this? You can barely stand as is.”“Hah! Don’t pity me.” Bart says. “This is a match to the death. No ways around that. I ain’t property like those dancers. I chose to follow Klement on my own volition. Because I am the Knight-Commander of House Bergliez, and that is my duty. Only a warrior’s death will release me from that vow.” Bart turns away from you for a moment to stare out of the cage. His eyes lock onto Klement, who watches the spectacle from his throne impassionately.
“Don’t underestimate this one, my Lord.” Bart says. “It’s been an honor serving you.”
With a roar, Bart rushes in with both hands outstretched in a vain attempt to grapple you. He grabs onto your arms, squeezing with everything he has and dealing some damage in the process. In retaliation, you break his hold, delivering a single right punch to the center of his forehead. Something gives when you do. Bart stumbles back, seemingly drunk at first. His eyes roll in the back of his head, and he falls flat on his back, never to move again.

“And that’s a wrap!” Melanie announces excitedly. “The Bergliez Knights have fallen! Trystain and his friends have conquered the gauntlet and earned the right to face the champion!”
