Pieces clatter against the board until one of your rooks was eventually captured by a bishop of his. A violent CRACK comes from your right. Turning around, you see that Benedict's armblade has a two inch hole punched right through it. A vicious black oil begins leaking out of his armblade.
>-1 FLESH TO BENEDICT!
The Admiral continues to speak with nary a care for what's going on. "Their power is wasted away. Filtered through miles of red tape. Everything forced through a corporate lens. That's not what REAL POWER used to represent. Real power, you see, is when you show someone you are superior to them."
"To dominate an enemy. Crushing defeats. Heroic failures. Successful suicides. Triumph over them. Now? It's about holding that power. Stagnating. Rotting away, no longer needing to FIGHT to hold that power." The Admiral flinches as you manage to capture his queen with one of your rooks. The pinky finger on his left hand is bent in a very awkward angle now. "That is why I like this game."
"Men are born for games. Nothing else. Every child knows that play is nobler than work." He turns the favor by capturing your rook with his king. A massive wound rips open on your forearm, seemingly bypassing your combat suit.
>-1 FLESH TO YOU!
"And this game is the closest to war. War is the ultimate game because war is at last a forcing of the unity of existence. War is God, Nicole. That is why I am here. I am to remind them of what TRUE POWER once meant in this world."
"That is why I do not call the City my home. It is nothing but a farce."
You move your queen into position, putting him in check. More moves fly by until eventually, you capture another one of his rooks that was trying to approach your king. He grunts in pain as a shallow stab wound manifests on his chest.
Pieces keep moving and while you had to lose another Rook, it luckily targeted Lex. A CLINK of metal hitting his chestplate is heard. Something about his armor is able to block it? Interesting.
>3 CHARGES LEFT ON LEX'S WHALEBONE ARMOR!
Soon, you manage to put him into check. No matter where he tries moving, he would still be in check. Checkmate. You smirk at him. You had to lose your knights and one of your bishops, so you can see some nasty bruises forming on Adam and Ashley's bodies, but they're surface level for now. Looking back at the Admiral?
Two shallow stab wounds in his chest, a broken pinky finger, and several small bruises that barely seem to be affecting him. He barely seems to care about the wounds inflicted onto him, instead smiling at you. "Good game." With a snap of the fingers, the board resets.
You have a solid reading on how he plays. He's more focused on capturing as many of your high valued pieces as possible, which left him exposed to you using them as traps so you can move your pieces into position. He wants to HURT you more than actually winning.
