Count Dooku of Serenno was the head of state of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and a former Jedi master. However, in the annals of galactic history, he has been relegated to a mere footnote, a forgotten relic of a bygone era. The official imperial records dismiss him as a mere Jedi conspirator, aiming to topple the republic. Though you possess perhaps a better understanding of the story, you will never be able to discern the exact tale of Count Dooku. Both this copy and other works on him are most likely censored and biased by Imperial revisions.
What makes this copy special, however, is the amount of commentary written next to the official holobook writings. The handwriting is untraceable. It is neither that of your father nor that of anyone whose handwriting you know. Someone at the court must have added it, being sympathetic to Dooku's ideals. And they either left or died in the meantime.
And thus, there are a lot of discrepancies with the official narrative. The annotations reveal that Dooku had severed ties with the order before establishing the CIS, a fact conveniently omitted in the official narrative. It also mentions some details of his career as a Jedi Dooku. The official printing glosses over with an explanation that he was acting on the Jedi's orders. The narrative is both official and goes on to detail the reclamation of his birthright as Count of Serenno. His disillusionment with both the republic and, according to the sidenotes, the Jedi. Seeing them as too complacent with the corruption of the last days of the republic.
In addition to his force powers and lightsaber combat forms, the book proceeds to elaborate on how his aristocratic manners, charisma, great intellect, political talent, and ambitious ideals were his primary strengths. The authorised account makes a point of emphasising his intention to establish a corporate-Jedi-led alliance to control the galaxy, while the commentary suggests that Dooku led the CIS to address the decadence and ineffectiveness of the old republic.
The final chapters primarily focus on his tenure as the leader of the CIS and his covert collaboration with the remaining loyal Jedi in their plot to overthrow Palpatine, a narrative that is contradicted by the accompanying notes. Additionally, the text delves into the circumstances surrounding his demise above Coruscant. Both the official account and the commentary express uncertainty regarding the events that unfolded after his top general abducted Palpatine. The only confirmed information is that he perished aboard the invisible hand, and his mortal remains and lightsaber were incinerated in Coruscant's atmosphere.
This book and its notes were useful as a consultation source during your college days. And you have since formed your own opinions on Dooku
