"I have heard that the resort is quite the delightful locale." Ruby commented.
"But I bet being in a small motel room with Master and hardly anything in it would be the best~" Herta said.
"You're fortunate I decided to stay in my crystal, Savant Lord!" Yumi spoke from the crystal prison she was unable to escape from without your express permission. "That it would not cost you a copper more!"
"But aren't we all Master's slaves?" Bertha asked. "How you showing up any different?"
"I, being the kind and compassionate spirit I am, will gladly explain my tale of woe. For I, as the cursed spirit-"
"It would've costed Master more if he brought in pets or servants too." Ayane said calmly. "Which is what Yumi might classify under."
"Hey!" Yumi did not appreciate the interruption or the comments.
"It's better than being treated as a pest." Ayane tried to console the ghost girl to no effect.
"Master already decided on where to go," Gerty spoke with finality, "Let us accept it without complaint."
You wives seemed to be happy to leave it at that as you all went off for a walk.
"Hey, aren't there tons of stores and stuff everywhere?" Bertha nearly complained, holding her head like someone struck it with a hammer.
"This is Centria— it would be more surprising if they didn't have them." Ruby replied.
"There could be something to get rid of feeling so queasy..." Bertha mumbled.
"I'm sure many are selling medicines." You said. "There might even be a pharmacy somewhere."
"Master," Ayane spoke to you in a serious tone. It was enough to demand your attention. "I implore you, please refrain from purchasing medicines from the open market."
"It can't be that bad, I'm sure." Mel said optimistically.
Those words make you realize that Victorian age medicine probably isn't the best out there.
"Please, Master," Ayane ignored Mel's words and turned to you, "I plead on your mercy. There-"
"There's hardly a good medicine around here." You said. This was the age of snake oils and quack doctors. "Don't worry, I'm not going to buy anything without being absolutely sure its good for us."
"Thank you, Master." Ayane breathes a sigh of relief.
Bertha, annoyed, gave a groan. But then looked sheepish when catching a glance at you.
"You said something about holistic remedies." You said to your kitsune. "Is there something specific to treat morning sickness?"
"There is." Ayane smiled. All of your pregnant wives, save for Gerty and Herta, payed close attention. "Take some treant roots, glow berries, and ginger, then boil them in scalding hot water for around an hour. Put it in a bottle and let it sit for a day. And then it should be ready."
That sounded like an average homemade recipe, fantasy ingredients aside.
"And what about healing books and medical texts?" You ask.
"Medical books can be found," Answered Ayane, "Yet books with healing spells are rare."
