Underbrush snapped and ripped suddenly. The deer leapt into the air, then a pair of massive pincers closed around its midsection. Behind the pincers eight feet of giant centipede writhed. The deer struggled and let out a blood chilling scream as the monster shook it like a ragdoll. One, two, three shakes and the animal ripped in half, the hind section crashing in front of Mel, organs spilling out. The centipede locked its pincers around the front half and started dragging it backward, a burrow visible.
