>>6135867>“Your bosses?”“The very same. Though they have no love for Princess Yulia’s game, they wish to get behind a champion who they believe will win her hand. If you see me safely to Morfis, then I am sure they will not hesitate in sponsoring your victory. And with them on your side, you stand to gain much.”
From what you gathered about Morfisian politics, there were only two real players worth a damn. Princess Yulia, and these so-called “Royal Sages”. Winning Yulia to your side was already a given. All you’d have to do was beat up some losers in this competition and show her some of your natural charm. Plus you’d have Bronte backing you up for extra support. As for these Sages, if what Alvin says is true, you’d just have to babysit him back to the capital and he’d put in a good word. You’d have both powers of Morfis backing you. The reign of King Tristain d’Rusalka was beginning to look more and more plausible.
>“Very well, I’ll hold you up to that. But if this ‘secret’ of yours winds up putting us in any more danger, I’ll expect a full explanation. I can’t very well safeguard both you and it if I don’t know what I’m dealing with.”“If it comes to that, you have my word.” Alvin nods.
Your journey to Ithaca continues early in the morning the next day. Once again the scorching sun is high above, bathing you in its oppressive rays. You choose to conserve your energy today and as such, you stop complaining as much. You travel all the way in the back of your group, riding your camel in abject misery, until an impossible scene appears before your eyes. In the distance, you can spot what appears to be a patch of lush green, surrounding what is unmistakably a tiny body of water. You look towards your companions, however, none of them have noticed what you have. In fact, the group appears to be traveling away from the oasis.
You’d heard of people going mad in the desert. Supposedly it was not uncommon for those stricken by the heat to see things that were not truly there. So called ‘mirages’ that played tricks upon their mind.
Still…that water looked too good NOT to be real.
>A): Approach the Oasis>B): Ignore it and follow the group.
