“So, are you really feeling alright after yesterday?” Iris asks incredulously.
“Mostly,” Cici confirms. “Why?”
“Well, your eyes started glowing and then you fell into a coma. Most people don’t just wake up feeling fine after something like that.”
“I don’t know what a coma is,” Cici admits, “but your eyes glow all the time an’ you seem fine…”
“Fine is a tricky adjective, but I suppose you do have a point,” the beholderkin concedes. “Also, a coma is when you go to sleep, and it’s very hard to wake you back up.”
“But I woke up fine this morning!”
“Then I guess it’s best not to worry your pretty little head… err, heads… over it! You’re fine now, and I’m sure that’s plenty enough for your mother.”
“I hope so… an’ I hope she’s almost ready too. We’re going to be late for school!”
Iris seems incredulous at that but holds her tongue.
