"<span class="mu-i">An eye and an eye o'er the falls</span>," Wilhelm sang softly.
"The falls!" exclaimed the blacksmith. "Yes, I remember! I awoke in the middle of a river. There had been a fight. I had lost an eye. Before that..." The blacksmith looked into the distance with his one eye. "I cannot recall a time before that. I found my way to Redgate, and the old blacksmith taught me his trade."
"It is your trade we need now, my king," said Beraht. In one hand the wizened old man held the Staff of Light, and in the other hand he held the black metal. "The black metal must be forged into a sword."
Wilhelm took the black metal from Beraht and knelt before King Leonard. "Your majesty, I beg you, forge me a sword so that I may slay the dragon."
The blacksmith nodded, and said, "Show me to the anvil."
