>>6061693>>6061726>>6061734If you play my quests and game settings, you may have seen I extensively use this 3d virtual tabletop application, unimaginatively called "3d Virtual Tabletop" lol, it is completely free no sign up no login on android.
So recently I upgrade my phone, to a high end one, I have 1 terabyte sd card storage, yay. But also I have to use android 14.
Immediately, because of some Android policy on scoped storage, I can no longer access Android /data folder, cannot edit or move .obb files, if you play games like Neverwinter Nights, you can no longer save your own character custom portraits or custom music or UI, install mods etc.
And the 3d virtual tabletop app I rely on for rpg games? Completely removed from Android store. I try to visit some apkpure or other website and sideload - cannot install, no longer compatible, missing libraries. Just like all those games and content like Shadowrun or that Killing Floor version of a twin stick shooter etc on Android, you buy and pay for them legitimately, googl just removes them with no warning from the app store, no compatibility for future releases on future phone handsets.
So I can still use the virtual tabletop app on my old phone, I think that is some outdated android version probably pre 10, but obviously that hardware has a finite lifespan (power button broke, I fixed it)
I blame the demise of googl around 2011 when Wael Ghonim started doing the Arab Spring and googl got involved in strange regime change CIA stuff like Project Jigsaw with Jared Cohen, under the guise of CVE (countering violent extremism).
Googl always had weird In-Q-Tel links eg Maps and googl earth were from Project Keyhole Iraq satellite surveillance, the whole google gdelt news monitoring similar to Lockheed ICEWS etc but it felt like around the Arab Spring the company became distracted from the pure tech / mathematical focus of its founders (see my pic related, an early googl interview recruitment billboard) and increasingly entangled with weird national security censorship / social manipulation engineering schemes.
The Page / Brin /Schmidt triumvirate removed Don't Be Evil from the mission statement, creating Alphabet (like... Alphabet... agency??) unleashed Eric Schmidt in full Burning Man sex maniac mode to pursue weird US defense agency objectives, and the rest is the Sundar Pichai googl you see today
So just to let you know if my future quests and games can no longer feature cool miniatures and 3d tabletop environments like these
