I think Boyd tried for three fireballs this battle? One in the delaying maneuver that he failed, or rather got partial success, and two hits in the battle. Then hopefully enough he could throw defend himself, but thats his current limit. In other words we should try to have him do a big kamehameha worth three mana. If the weather turns rainy or theres a gnoll palisade camp. Or just to break the will of the enemy quickly.
His style of pyromancy where hes literally sparking out of his arm and the staff sucks it up to direct it is pretty funny. Seems kinda harsh for Dalaran to cast him into the Underbelly just cause he lacked control and burned himself a fair bit before he got it down pat. I had been worried it was a race between him and Wiklish on who burns their workshop down first, but hes been pretty stable (Inb4 triple nat1 and he literally blows up next time).
Down on his luck, or its also rejection of his research aimed at people who wouldn't make the Dalaran standards. Or did he try some radical solutions like altering his body and mana to attune to fire magic. Doing just about anything other than using warlock power sources, which does rather speak to his dedication. You'd think Dalaran would find a spot for him just to reward that kind of drive and not falling for temptations. We should invite him to smoke some time and get more info on him and the other mages.
