>>5900609Yeah, the update was pretty much a monologue, future updates will have more in between
>>5900722Both the sword and mail are still in your families possession, your father keeps them as mementos, both the sword and mail are taken well care of.
Your immediate family is rich, your grandfather was prosperous enough that he could sell excess goods at Gipeswic (Ipswich) every year. And your father has only advanced the family fortunes. There is a reason he is called Hafl-Thegn, he is wealthy but he lacks a noble tittle. It's one of the few goals he was unable to achieve.
>>5900724Yeah good suggestion with about the quotes, gonna put my writing though grammarly from now on.
On another note before I start writing [2-3 hours from now] I'll introduce the system. It's relatively simple.
https://pastebin.com/77X8sHFYThe gist of it is that you roll a 2d6+STAT Modifier. The result will fall into one of 3 categories.
10+: You do it with little trouble
7–9: You do it, but with complications or trouble
6-: The QM says what happens
The rule-set I got inspiration from has a mechanic called "moves", its a tabletop rpg game originally and in essence any narrative actions the players took IC would trigger corresponding moves and dice rolls from among its rule book. I will post a pastebin with the basic moves which we will also use and update it as we progress.
In general, the moves triggered (if any) by options option I provide won't ever be explicitly stated (no option will say "Hack and Slash") but it will be clear enough that "hack and slash" will be triggered if you choose to fight someone. That way I feel narrative and mechanics are neatly blended into the story.
If you want you can always keep a tab of the pastebin open to consult what "move' may lie behind an option.
Now we get to decide Ælfstan's stat array. Consult the picture I posted to check the modifiers. I will post 2 stat arrays as examples, but really I invite you guys to create your own as a write in. Make sure to name it. and note STR is increased by 2, you don't need to add it, I will at the end of the vote.
