>>6339310You know it’s not a goodbye, but it still feels like one. “Walk with me, Constantin.” you say to him as you pass him by through the doorway, “Sir.” are his only words as he starts to follow you. You can’t help but be satisfied with yourself, and a little embarrassed, at the control you’ve realized you hold on all of this. You reach your majestically ornate, and meticulously organized study, with piles of books, schematics and papers on every available surface, but leaving just enough space for your desk centerpiece. How could you have possibly missed this on your first visit? Were you that blind? Doesn’t matter now, as He’s waiting for you, standing next to your throne.
Constantin stands by the door but does not enter, you figure it’s probably for his own good. “So this is what you’ve chosen. Are you sure you know how this works?” He asks you with palpable concern in his voice. “It’s just cards, right?” You reply, expecting an explanation but he gives you nothing but expectant silence.
You sit on your throne and the world opens to you once more. To a lesser man this would’ve been overwhelming, possibly fatal. But you’re far from one. You close your eyes and focus your range from the world down to the mountains, further down to your base, down to your room – it’s emitting physical sound now – now down to yourself. You feel his hand on your shoulder and you slowly open your eyes. The room is clear. You turn to the owner of the hand and see He’s no longer a ghost. Is this what this room does? “Partly, yes. It has many functions, quite the swiss-army-knife.” He answers you despite you not having said anything. “Don’t be so surprised, of course I know what you’re thinking. I’m in your head! Anyway it’s in the second drawer on the left.” He preempts what you were about to ask and directs your next course of action. Taking out the tarot deck and putting it on the table, you’re left clueless. “So I just draw them?” You ask hesitantly. “That’s how tarot usually works, yes.” With that, you reach out your hand towards the deck and the room blinks. A pulse of power folds in on itself, traveling from the walls, to you, then your hands to reach the card you just took.
You set down The Tower.
“Hmm” The not-ghost murmurs. You look to him for answers but receive none, looking back at the deck. You remember people doing this with three cards right? You reach. Power flares around to your card again as you take out another.
You set down The Devil.
You cannot see him but feel one of his brows arch in curiosity. The silence remains. Another reach, another pulse and the last card is drawn.
You set down The star
“Now what?” You ask him. “This is your divination, your future. You tell me”
“Well…”
