>>5649077It’s still the early morning, and most of the villagers appear to be just starting their days. Sluggishly walking out of their homes to assess that nothing had gone wrong in the night, and you feel a slight pang of guilt, for it was you who made them lose some sleep. Only slight, however.
Mabe village is built right above the beach. You can see and still faintly hear the rolling waves, moments ago to your mind they were a deafening roar, but now they’re white noise that might put you to sleep under more peaceful circumstances. Something you notice is that no one in this village looks like anyone else. There appears not to be any semblance of a common culture. This strikes you as a bit odd at first, but it would make sense. This island is, if Marin speaks the truth, a patchwork of castaways who have miraculously made something out of their tragedies. You wonder if you’re to become another stitch in its odd mosaic…
You don’t have time to reflect on that, as Marin suddenly grips your hand and starts dragging you in the direction of a larger building in the distance.
“That’s the library up there! Lots of times I go there just to see the big mural with the map of the island! Seeing if I can memorize the exact locations or imagining what secrets must be hidden in-“
Marin is speaking hundreds of miles per minute, but you’re mostly focused on regaining your footing after being suddenly pulled forth. But as you make the trip, out of the corner of your eye bounds a large dark blue figure. Marin is distracted, but you know that it’s going to make some sort of collision course.
You pull with the strength of your elbow, whirling around to grasp her shoulders and shoving with your legs to allow her to narrowly escape the terrifying beast’s charge.
You are not so lucky.
You’re sent flying a short measure, before rolling along the stone pathway. It’s not a terribly painful landing, but the impact is slightly disorienting coupled with the headache from your unfortunate sailing incident.
You look up to see the beast that did this, it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen, that you can remember anyway. It has razor sharp claws, large eyes, shuffling in place.
Amusingly, it barks, like a dog.
Despite the fear in your heart, Marin, unscathed, cannot help but absolutely crack up.
“Aha… ahahahah! Stranger, you should see the look on your face! Don’t worry, he doesn’t bite, he’s just happy to see a new face… Isn’t it lovely here?”
>”A riveting experience…” You can’t help but laugh a little, as well. Marin’s whimsical charms are rubbing off on you, you feel you’ll at least have a good time living here... (Poet)>”Yes, yes, all very new and exciting. I feel like such a distinguished guest, now if you’d please, help me up?” You roll your eyes. The bizarre seems to anger you, you’re already adverse to this island…>You say nothing, laughing up a hearty storm, what a thrill! (Motivated)
