My apologies.
I've been pretty tight lipped about it because I wanted people to figure out or draw their own conclusions as to what I was going for, but with bad-faith actors and people genuinely not understanding what I was going for, I'd like to clear it up a bit.
Akule's story was a combination of philosophical and cultural ideas- the idea of modern industrialized democratic society being "LEVIATHAN" (nothing to do with the Nephandi term but interesting parallel) and being inherently evil or distressing to the Jaxtian (human) soul. The idea is present in many modern authors and belief systems- similar to Teddy K, technology and industrial society being a "disaster to the human race". However, Akule knew that simply retreating into his new, more wholesome adoptive culture wouldn't actually solve the problem, nor could he force the Jaxtian species to return to naturalism or Anarcho-primitivism because once the "Nut-Thief is out of the bag" it's not going to go back in. This runs in parallel to my own philosophy on society and its course. Simply put, you can't remove the heartless elements of dystopian technology and society because the benefits (power) will allow it to spread itself and consume lesser, weaker civilizations despite that in the end not actually being good for anyone. Even if you had the ultimate power to destroy modern industrial society and force everyone to return to an agrarian subsistence lifestyle; the knowledge and philosophical advancement of humanity means people won't do it. They will naturally try to improve their lives with technology and disenfranchisement, naturally thru risk-avoidance remove all sense of adventure and fulfillment over bureaucracy. All it would take is one bad faith actor to keep technological advancement and use it to conquer the now weaker, divided world. This concept was simply expanded to encompass the entire UNIVERSE in Monkeverse because at its core it's a silly Sci-Fi game.
Akule killed Brun and ended the Golden Hand as it would have given him the fame and heroic stature back in Centralia in order to rise up through the ranks and seize power to enact his beliefs- which embrace technology and dystopia with a guided and all-powerful hand that can sidestep the dehumanizing aspect of society by simply overcoming it with sheer inhuman will and masculine ego- the concept embodied in the Supreme Ruler. This required a certain sacrifice and Occultic power- similar to literally Hitler, which Akule has been intentionally paralleled to many times. It was very disheartening that still people don't understand the betrayal or think that "Akule killed Brun because he was gay". As I've admitted before the Prequel thread could have been handled better but I also get the feeling many people simply refuse to engage with the material.
