“Most are from the northern tribes, with me included. Almost everything is made of ice, and most of us hunt, fish, craft, or water bend for a living. I would often go boating with my family to catch fish and seals to eat.” Hurrin starts to drool a bit at the memory.
“How does that taste?”
“Rich and fatty, with a texture that melts in your mouth! I’ve heard that some spices from the Earth kingdom go great with it, but I don’t think it’s necessary. A pinch of salt and you’re good!”
“..Oh, okay is boating the only you did? Eating a seal sounds great, but see how you have nothing but ice…” Okoron drones.
“Oh please, ice carving, snow fights, and sledding are things that never get old coals.”
“Embers.” Okoron interrupts.
“Same thing kindling, ease up.”
“Moving on, hobbies you seem like a working girl.”
“Hey! A lot of the men wanted me to make a few blocks when I’m not sailing. I would sometimes use a rib-bone to pick out little penguins on them, and make up stories or listen to them around the fire, for personal hobbies. And you embers?”
“Play-fighting, reading, wandering around the city, and… meditation.”
“Why the long pause on meditation?”
“I’ll tell you later.”
“Okay, whatever. In the meantime wanna talk to so of the others?”
“I’d love to, please.”
So Okoron and Hurrin walk towards the circle of blue and white clothing. Taking further note of his surroundings he notices a few sentries up on the boardwalks making security a non-issue. With what seems to be 15 patrolling the teal, brown, and red buildings. Shoes tapping the new and pristine flooring, they idly watch and wait for any conflict.
But his attention is soon returned to the group now enveloped in the bubble he sticks out like a sore thump and a good few seem to be sizing him up. Hurrin grabs his arm and motions for them to cut it out.
“So about that, some of us are far from home and on edge. Please don’t hold it against them.”
“That’s why you guys are all huddled back here?”
“Well, yeah. That and the other kids here seem to already have groups lined up, and we don’t have much of an opportunity to branch out. This is all so foreign you know?”
Okoron gives a sympathetic smile. “Yeah, it seems like you have your hands full. My curiosity has peeked, anyone special among you guys here, maybe even someone that sees spirits?”
“Weird ask, we know a girl that talks to herself sometimes but that’s about all. As for the others-”
Hurrin points to several people as you go through the crowd introducing you to the collective whole.
