You shook your hands out, bounced on the tips of your toes, and shook your head from side to side. Alright, you could do this. Just give her everything you’ve got and hope that you don’t die from suffocation, gunshot wounds or violent soul mutilation. No pressure.
<span class="mu-r">“Just say when.”</span>
You took a deep breath and prepared to “Flame On”, when you saw Ana pulling out her spear and setting it ablaze. Everyone stared at it in surprise, before you and Oya finally understood what her intention was.
<span class="mu-b">“It might break</span> <span class="mu-r">your enchantment.”</span>
Oya warned her. Ana just shook her head and pushed the spear closer.
<span class="mu-g">“I would prefer it dying.”</span>
Glass and Iara nodded their agreement.
Oya shrugged and began siphoning fire from the spear tip. You took that as your cue to join in, and after a few tries, you managed to successfully repeat your “walking fireball” trick. Pale green flame enveloped your entire body, before quickly dissipating as Oya absorbed them from you. You pushed even harder, devoting all of your attention to feeding the flames, struggling just to keep up with the rate of the Senior Nightguard’s absorption capabilities. The other two just stood by and watched in awe, wondering whether this would be enough to get you out of this alive.
Eventually, the ice walls were beginning to crack under the weight of the constant gunfire pelting them from all angles. But right before they went down, you made sure to give Oya every last drop of your power. When you were absolutely certain that the well was completely dry, you fell to one knee and sucked in a breath. Your lungs burned from a severe lack of oxygen, and your muscles ached for reasons that you couldn’t entirely explain.
Oya’s blue eye blazed with power. So much so that it all just looked like one solid color. She Shoved her arms towards the ground and the ice walls exploded outwards, temporarily leaving you undefended…or so you thought.
A wave of freezing air swept out, knocking some bullets off course and outright ripping the momentum out of others. You watched as countless frozen pellets fell and shattered to the ground. But other than that, you heard no more gunfire. And that’s when you realized that everyone other than Mr. Degli had been frozen solid!
The water that had once covered the ground had now frozen solid into a jagged sheet of ice. Degli’s men had frozen where they stood. Some looked panicked, while others hadn’t even realized what was happening to them until it was too late.
Even Degli’s right-hand woman had a shocked expression frozen onto her face, her arms held up to shield herself from Oya’s unblockable attack.
Only their leader stood unscathed, his thick boots slightly sticking to the ground and his hair a bit mussed, but he was otherwise unharmed. He was staring at Oya with renewed interest. He hadn’t even deigned to acknowledge her before, but now…
