Ulfred slunk off toward the cathedral. The wizened old man turned to Wilhelm. "Why have you come here, boy?"
Wilhelm stood up straight. "I seek aid against the Dragon Lord, to end his rule. No more will he send his army to blight our lands and his dragon to feed on maidens. I have only a short time before I must return to the maiden whom I seek to keep safe."
The wizened old man looked at Wilhelm. "The foul beast does not feed on the maidens, boy." He gestured with his staff into the woods, from where Wilhelm had emerged. "This is a place of peace and healing, and you are just a boy." The old man turned away and began to hobble after Ulfred. "Go back to your home. The Dragon Lord is too strong an enemy for you."
