As Hermione thinks over her gathered information, she comes to the conclusion that if there really were some magical girl killer roaming around, it would be smart to be able to defend herself. And while she’d only transformed once before, she was fairly certain her paltry magical weapon would be vastly inferior compared to the destructive ingenuity of humanity.
“Butler! Have the shooting range prepared.”
As the servant leaves, the red-haired girl returns to the Rockefeller library. For a moment, she hesitates, before claiming her grand-uncle’s cherished revolver from its stand. Every component was still as well-maintained as the last time it went on a hunt, decades ago.
“…” The girl gingerly carries it from the room and heads toward the estate’s shooting range.
After a short ride past the stables, the groundskeeper drops her off at the small gun range, located in the fields behind the mansion. The weapon’s weight is still somewhat surprising, but the instructor walks her through how to load bullets into the chamber and a few basic principles. The red-haired girl is a bit displeased at the realization that she would have to actually carry rounds of ammunition with her if she ever wanted to reload the gun, but ideally the six bullets in the cylinder would suffice for most scenarios.
As she aims the revolver downrange, about to fire a gun for the first time in her life, she feels an odd sense of reverence. This weapon… it held the weight of history within its frame. It would be improper to simply use it without something to commemorate the occasion.
Hermione swallows. She closes her eyes tightly as she pulls the trigger.
“…r-rosso, fantasma!”

Even with ear protection, the gun’s roar shakes her eardrums.
“…Very good, my lady, but in the future, perhaps it’d be wiser to keep your eyes open when firing a weapon.”
The bullet flew off who knew where. Hermione quickly sets the gun down and crosses her arms, uncharacteristically flustered. “I- t-that’s obvious!”
