You immediately thought this was a bust but Ashton suddenly has an idea. "wait. disconnect the wires."
The Man does so. Ashton removes the battery from the contraption and carefully studies it. "what happens if we put this in a thing with a display?"
Huh. Wait, is she proposing that the static pollen went INTO the battery? "That might work. Alright, let's see." You replace the battery in the DVD player with the one you used for your experiment. Almost immediately, the DVD player crackled to life.
It shows a memory. The memory this time is nothing particularly noteworthy: It's of a man and a woman enjoying a meal. The simple fact you're able to see and hear the memory like it was any other video is impressive in of itself. Footage is one thing but being able to watch memories?
That tech could be very useful...if you could find a way to EXTRACT/RECORD memories. Otherwise there's no real use in viewing random memories. You ask your two coworkers if they have any idea how you could record something on them.
The Man proposes that shocking a person with something powered by a STATIC POLLEN infused battery could do the trick. If the pollen can inhabit a battery, maybe the battery could be the trick.
You suppose that could work. You remove the battery from the DVD player before hooking it to the contraption Ashton made earlier. "alright, i'll do it." Ashton pokes at the electrified metal and, as expected, it shocks her. She yelps but the current is too weak to do any long lasting damage.
The battery faintly hums mere moments after Ashton touched it. You remove the battery and place it back right into the DVD player.
Another memory appears and this time, it appears to be from the point of view of Ashton herself. She's talking to one of her coworkers about something inane, nothing important enough to record in your own memory, but this? This is something else. Ashton is gob smacked at one of her memories actually being replayed on the DVD player.
"haaa, that was a while ago. i barely remembered having this conversation..."
Interesting, the Man exclaims! If it can extract memories that people have forgotten about, it could be an excellent backup for data. It could be used for interrogations. Heck, he says, it might be a way to bypass or 'cure' people affected by memetic or infohazardous anomalies.
You wonder if it could be used to help the Man, given his own anomalous ability.
"Well, that's one down." You sigh, glad that you have something you can sell to ARC now.
>STATIC POLLEN can now be used to extract and replay certain memories from your fellow employees. Great for info gathering
"Alright, we'll do the WINE in a moment, I got another thing I want to study." You dig through your satchel for something else to study. You remember that there was this old bag of mystery gunk you found almost a week ago. You place it, alongside a flesh sample from the ROBUST MAN, on the table.
