>>5333532Leaping down from your building, you surge headlong in the direction of Rottsville. If his part-time vigilantism is anything to go by, you have a higher chance of finding Boleski where there’s more violent crime about, as opposed to Downtown where there’s considerably less.
When the smell of urine in the alleyways hits your nostrils and the buildings start to look more worn and decrepit, you know you’ve more-or-less arrived in one of Konigsburg’s most sordid slums.
“Man, I forgot how much of a shithole this place is…” Valjean scrunches his nose at the sight of the decrepit buildings. “Makes the warehouse look like a five-star resort.”
Like Nacht Haven or Pliningen, Rottsville is the very definition of project, half-finished apartments dotting the streetsides and a few clusters of homeless tents scattered here and there. It’s a wonder the place is still standing for how the ghetto is in complete shambles, and why anyone would ever want to stay here is beyond you.
“Any reason we’re not headed to the pharmacy?” Valjean’s piercing gaze on your back, as you bypass one of the pharmacies.
“We’re not looking for the Healer yet.” You shoot back to him. “Do me a favor and turn on your police scanner.”
“Affirmative, cannibal.” You hear the fizzle of the handheld starting up. “MutantWatch station or regular patrols?”
“MutantWatch.” You have to take a split-second to think about that. While Valjean monitors the radio, you keep your eyes and ears focused on your surroundings for anything out of the ordinary. Even your proprioception is tuned to the skies above in case Boleski might be soaring overhead.
You don’t expect to find any crime in your first few minutes of being in Rottsville, but, after fighting both non-mutants and mutants for long enough, you get a good idea on where and what to look for.
