>>5789723I haven't read the books or supplementary stuff in well over a decade but if you run through the magical creature section of the HPWiki, like at least half of them are based off of or are just straight mythological creatures. Some are just pure WTF like Erumpents, but the point stands. If there is a relatively well known legendary creature, it is either real or something pretty close is. Like in China, I could almost guarantee some of their wands have Qulin whiskers instead of unicorn hair and others use, like, firebird beaks vs Phoenix feathers. Assuming the chink wizards haven't done what their muggle countrymen have and eaten magical animals into near extinction to make their cocks work better, that is.
