You hoped the new weapons wouldn't make the mech too cluttered.
The chance presented itself for you to further upgrade the base of the mech itself. While this led to many different possibilities, you knew that if you focused on too many things later on the BoatMech could become a jack of all trades and the master of none. However, letting it branch out a little right now wasn't going to harm it.
The BoatMech excelled in water encounters, not necessarily being bound to sea— working just as well with rivers and lakes. You imagined, with some major upgrades, that it would also make for a good submarine, likely better than it should be thanks to that Savant engine design you were able to find in the reef. The small 'bubbles' in the steampunk engine were able to give it better agility in a way that was incomprehensible to anyone that wasn't a deity or a Savant.
However if you did turn it into a submarine, you'd need to make some torpedoes.
While it could be used on land to reasonable effectiveness, it wasn't designed to move over rough terrain. The annoying little bits of trouble it went through when trekking through the woods were proof; both goblin cave and the bandit camp where Ayane was held alike. The BoatMech's maneuverability on land wasn't terrible, but it wasn't the best either.
As for capability of flight— simply put, there was none. But it could jump; somehow managing to be better at leaping when in the water than when on land. However, once again thanks to that Savant design from the beach episode you had, the BoatMech could have some control while airborne; and a new upgrade could be done to capitalize on that fact.
But then again you could just keep this as it was and save yourself the ingots and minerals.
(You may choose only one upgrade path for the BoatMech to currently go on) (Note: Any upgrade here will cost 1000lbs of ingots)
>The BoatMech will be outfitted to better move and fight on land.
>Some rockets and wings will make it more maneuverable in the air, even allowing it to fly for around 10 minutes every day.
>A retractable hull and mechanism that allows the BoatMech to become a dangerous submarine.
>Further improvements to its naval capabilities. As redundant as it might sound it was good to specialize in one thing.
>The BoatMech was fine as it was, you didn't need to upgrade it now. (This option won't use the 1000lbs of ingots)
>Create a hybrid between the above. (Which?) (Take in mind that this will likely cost more than 1000lbs of ingots and will potentially not be as good as focusing on one thing)
