You decide to investigate and look for another Onion. At this point you've found a new onion, and a new Pikmin subspecies, in every area you've investigated looking for your ship parts. At this point, you'd be more surprised if you didn't find one!
But once again, this raises the question. Why do all these different Pikmin subspecies exist? And why do you keep stumbling upon a new unique one each time? What happens if you were to find another red or blue Pikmin Onion? Would they both follow you, two identical colors, or would they absorb into each other, becoming one? Do the Pikmin tolerate the different subspecies of colors because, together, it increases their chances of survival?
Soon enough, you find a new Onion in the high mountains; a yellow Onion. These Yellow Pikmin are yet another type of Pikmin, and a quick examination reveals their specialities. Firstly, they seem more agile then other pikmin types, and lighter weight- letting them be thrown higher- though it's a far cry from the orange pikmin's ability to fly. Moreso is their sense of balance. Whenever you throw them, they always land on their feet- much like a spacecat.
However, there is a second concern you have for them. You take a small blood (sap? Juice?) sample from one of the yellow Pikmin and your computer instantly detects something. With a much higher then normal concentration of electrical conductors in the blood, your AI predicts these pikmin may have some ability to resist or even be totally immune to electric shocks! That's... pretty much exactly what you needed too- to recover your generator from the singing zone. It's all coming together.
With that, you've gathered six distinct subspecies of Pikmin. That's quite a few, and you get the feeling that with this collection- you can tackle anything this planet can throw at you now.
