>>5562283“Not a bird!” The face in your cracked visor pouts. “Birds are for throwing. Blow up bad guys or mean Guard when he makes me sleep!” The entity manifests a tiny hand to poke proudly at itself, a smug smile returning. “Teach gave me name. Name is PEE DEE!”
“Well it's nice to meet you Peedee. We actually call this voidship by that name too. Did you know?”
“Yes.” It replies, nodding matter-of-factly.
“I see.” You pause, wondering how to segue into asking the strange being for assistance. You eventually opt to just launch right into it.
“Look, Peedee. I know you want to be ‘Let out’ or ‘in’ or whatever, but do you think you could help me see first? My friends might be hurt and we don't have time for playing around.”
You grimace. Not exactly your best showing, but you never were one for statecraft - much preferring to lead from the front than to grease palms from behind.
“I promise we can talk all about helping you with… whatever it is you need after that.” You hedge.
The little orange face looks warily at you, a small frown crossing its visage. “Teach made promise too. Stay in box, promise back soon. When I woke, she wasn’t back. And Guard wouldn’t let me out!”
You can tell the little fellow will need some more convincing and you take a deep breath - praying to whomever might be listening that your crew can hold on without you just a little longer.
<span class="mu-b"><span class="mu-s">Social Skill Check Refresher:</span>
When you interact socially with someone, you can trigger a skill check to inspire an ally or persuade someone reluctant to do as you wish. Each person has a number of nodes corresponding to Mind|Body|Soul values.
To succeed, you must light up more than half the nodes in three rolls - though some are lit up (white) already. Choose, Mind, Body or Soul and roll the corresponding die. Whichever node you roll will light up all the adjacent nodes.
Red nodes represent hostility or resistance to your efforts and don't count towards the node total. Rolling a red node will cause all adjacent nodes to go out.
To convince Peedee to help you see through the censoring, you will need to succeed in a social skill check. Due to your partial insight into its nature you have one re-roll available to smooth over a single blunder you might make. You have no bonuses from your stats or skills to assist with this check.
With three rolls available, it's best to check what was last rolled and spread out the types to avoid already lit nodes or red nodes.

Write in what you say to Peedee and roll the appropriate die.
>Mind (roll 1d4) - an appeal to reason or logic.>Body (roll 1d12) - an appeal to the physical or needs.>Soul (roll 1d8) - an appeal to emotion or the spiritual.Goal: 6/13 nodes lit.
I'm going to sleep right after I post this so if there's any confusion I'll clear it up when I wake in a few hours.
