TalOS saw as the Emperor spoke those words that they troubled him deeply. They were words of someone who knew they were true and were not trying to hide them. Was the reason his words were said because he could not see the true future? How could someone like him state such a thing to TalOS of all his brothers?
+Why would you say that?+ TalOS allowed his confusion to show as he felt something shaken within him, +And to me, why?+
+You know the reasons why.+ The Emperor said as he looked upon his son with a sense of presence that TalOS did not know before, +You know what we fight and you are taking measures against them. That is the reason you became what you are, to defend yourself against their influnce.+
TalOS’s eyes widened as he looked upon his creator, +Malcador told you…+
The Emperor gave a solemn nod as he picked up the flesh and examined it, +You know of the fight we fight. You know the reason we fight it. It is their defeat that we seek and I cannot see if it works. The future is an ever present battle between my powers and them, for we both reach for the strands of fate.+
+As you do not hold them, you do not know the outcome?+
The Emperor gave a solemn nod to those words, +I hold the strands currently, but they are building their strength. If they find me wanting they will make their play. The best I can do is set the board against them on the outset.+
That was a hard concept to realize as TalOS heard those words. Even Malcador, who was the most ancient and powerful man that the Primarch had known, did not speak of those beings as equals. The Emperor however does. He was a man measuring himself against gods and found them to be true rivals.
+Then you are well aware of their power.+ TalOS proposed to make sure there was sanity within his creator.
+I am.+ He set forth with certainty that cannot be ignored, +I am well aware they play games among the Legions already.+
+The Thousand Sons.+
The Emperor nodded as he heard the name, +They are one such Legion.+
