>>5182389The last of Merkabah’s biomass merges with your own as you exit the Dragon’s Roost to find a thunderbird nested atop the cliffs you call your home, with Gina, Dorian, and Amara hot on your heels.
“SHU! IT IS SO VERY GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!” Ziz bellows, rattling the surrounding rooftops of the rusted town before all seven of the amalgam’s avian heads wince as one. “Sorry! I have been having a wonderful time, and I’ve made a new friend!”
“So I’ve heard—hello, Snowbird.” You greet, smiling at the proxy as she inclines her asymmetric helm towards you from atop one of Ziz’s crowns. “I appreciate the Relics. It was an unexpected surprise…as was the news that you two had found something unusual?”
“A thing that consumed the study—and eventually the mind—of the Proxy stationed there.” Snowbird explains, stepping across Ziz’s beak to reach you as the colossi lowers her friend to the ground. “I understand you met a Proxy early on. That one had been stationed as the other’s replacement. The effects of the fragment have been suppressed by an intricate Relic array. Shields the fragment from perception—contains its effect, as well.”
“Which is?” You ask, craning your neck to look up at the towering Daughter.
“Similar to a Phantasmal field, but vastly more potent.” The towering Proxy explains. “What few notes remained at the research station detailed an irrational level of rage and an acute sense of hopelessness. The effect had resulted in the self-destruction of at least two attempted settlements when it flared. Then it was contained by Prime’s intervention.”
“We’d thank her if she wasn’t a cu-“ GG almost gets out before you shoot her a glance.
“I’m glad the field was suppressed, in any case.” You say, nodding to Snowbird before directing your next statement to the Amalgam that looms over you all. “Ziz, as Dorian and Amara mentioned, we’re going to speak with Leviathan. Any advice, before we set out? Also, you’re welcome to accompany us, if you’d like.”
“Ah, um…I’d really rather not? If th-that’s okay?” The suddenly sheepish Amalgam replies. “Levy and I never really got on that well. Behemoth and I could sometimes hold the odd conversation or two, but Leviathan…didn’t have time for things that weren’t interesting.”
A pause, and then, cheerfully added; “But you’re really neat! I’m sure Levy would love to hear what your plans are for this world!”
…You’re not so sure, but given how quick words spreads, you’re sure Leviathan will find out eventually.
