You have no idea what’s going on with these two and this appears to be the start of something that might linger in your life for a long time (or for as long as you interact with these two), so you better get some clarifications before it becomes totally incomprehensible later.
“...What’s going on?” You hide your confusion as well as a zebra in the jungle.
“…” The confident Jaylene puts her Esperanza pigtails back on, sits down, and looks down. “...I’m sorry.” She’s embarrassed. She forgot you were here.
“T-The empress gets easily overpowered by her vassal’s shyness.” Oliver informs.
“Didn’t mean to scare her like that. I’m genuinely confused.” You keep an open mind.
“Buahehahuhi… It’s a long story that goes back eons, Host of Lightsbane. If you spare some of your time, you’ll be entertained.” Oliver sounds quite confident.
“He’s one of the defiant warriors of the prophecy?” Jaylene is back into character, but still surprised.
“Indeed, my liege. The one from the depths.” Oliver nods. “It’s time he learns about his role in the game board of destiny.”
“Wait, I’m part of the lore?” You thought it was some shit Oliver made up on the spot. Maybe it is still, but he had some time to build up something.
“You’re one of the sages of the immaterial. A protector who safeguards the most wicked part of their element from our world. In your case, you dispel the Light, because Light without restraint is blinding.” Oliver explains.
“For Millennia, the powers configuring our world were subjugated by humankind, but their dormant creators have awakened, and they’re rebelling against us for their freedom. Once again, we must seal them to preserve life.” Jaylene adds. “We’re the eternal souls of the past heroes reawakened in the bodies of our descendants. I’m the Empress Iseldis, the ruler of the elements.”
“You already know who I am. The disgraced legendary warrior who has forsaken all friendship… I’m nothing but the husk of the Knight who saved the world, Leo Major...” Oliver reveals. You’re 10% sure that this wasn’t the lore he told you about, but let’s be fair, he probably forgot all the details between all the traumatic events.
“And you two are like lovers, right? Should I leave the room?” You ask.
“Ah, the memories are flowing back into you...” Oliver chuckles. “But… I’m undeserving of her love… I’m not what she loved, I’m a failure…”
“N-Nonsense! I know deep into my soul that you’re the one… B-But it’s only adequate that the vessels decide to go into such a tight embrace...” Jaylene turns red.
“Jaylene…” Oliver’s eyes get moist.
“Oliver…” Jaylene’s eyes spark in anticipation.
They grab each other's hands…
