>>5607307>>5607313Things got intense last time. Maybe too intense.
It started at the Golden Tiger restaurant, part martial arts melee, part gunfight. Turned into a high-octane car chase across the city. Car wrecks and bodies were spread all over the tunnel highway, and half the crew wound up in the hospital or dead. Amateur home video of the chase made the nightly news. It was loud and messy and brazen as hell.
It was too badass to let stand.
And so the law came down hard. Uniforms have been busting up every shady corner, rat hole, and dive bar in the city looking for you. And that's in addition to having all the different crooks and rogues from Spider's web of alliances on your tail.
No choice but to lay low for a while. Stay in your safehouse, use a different pay phone each time you call someone, only go outside for the bare minimum.
It sucks. You're going stir crazy from lack of action or entertainment, surviving off food from delivery and late night convenience stores, checking the dead drops for a message from Claire that never comes. It's only been a few weeks, but it feels like a year, maybe even longer.
What's worse is it's becoming clear there's some kind of grand plan involving multiple crime groups throughout the city, with Spider sitting at the center. You're still not sure what it is. But you've discovered he has links to drugs with the Niners, weapons with the Dirty Dogs, and distribution with the Dragon's syndicate. Whatever his plan is, it's happening out there, right now, while you're stuck in here.
Fortunately in Heat City there's always something new to grab the attention of the public and police. A failed assassination attempt on a wealthy financier leads to a high priority investigation that has cops pulled from other duties to chase down the men responsible. Your gang is old news now. After all, you might have killed a lot of people, but none of them were rich or famous, so who cares?
With the heat relaxed a few degrees, Claire judges the time is right. She sends out the call.
Messages appear in the dead drop zones, posts are made to private bulletin boards, pay phones ring at certain pre-arranged times. For those off the grid, Angela rides out there in person. One way or another, everyone gets the word.
Time to get the crew back together. Time to unleash hell.
There's a job soon, the messages from Claire say. A big one. Maybe the big one, the one that'll put an end to this war. Still a few details to be worked out over the coming days. But be ready. Get warmed up with a race or a bank heist or whatever it is you do in your spare time. And be prepared to kick ass.
