The Emperor looked almost surprised as TalOS told him those words. Then he slowly realized what it was he spoke to, that while he spoke to his son TalOS the Worshiper had the wisdom of the Machine God. Not only was TalOS older than his brothers through his exploits, but he had gained knowledge beyond even those years.
“The reason I created the Astartes,” The Emperor began, “Was that I wanted to avoid such terrors. My sons have committed cruel acts in my name but none of them would be like the grueling wars that other options would reflect. My Custodians wished that I did not create the Astartes but instead turn them into my Generals. However that option would have left trillions dead in the ensuing millenia of war.”
“You were correct. Many would call creations like Konrad Curze and Angron to be terrors but they were nothing compared to what you could have made.” TalOS agreed, “But Father, I beseech thy, realize that we cannot take such actions these days. You do not have the time to raise millions of Custodians or the thousands of years it will take to repair the damage that Magnus has caused. Both of us know that your first experiment with deification was a success.”
There was a sour face upon the Emperor as he realized a secret was known, “Euphrati Keeler was in some way a success but she is already showing the signs of what I fear. If she was given any form of power beyond the metaphysical she will cause many to be burnt at the stake for treachery.”
“She has also saved your Imperium.” TalOS countered, “Through her actions and your power, Euphrati immensely slowed the Betrayal of Istvaan III. You will deny her heraldry simply because she is human.”
“You cannot keep all those who brought you to where you are.” The Emperor spoke, “I serve Humanity, I cannot worry myself if a lone human is not compensated.”
“It is a truth. I have heard it and will witness such truth across the stars.” TalOS answered back with an affirmation, “But that's where you fail once again, Father. Without keeping a solid will or concept of reality you have allowed your own vision to be flayed by Daemons. Mankind, for once in its existence, finally needs the god that you denied them.”
The Emperor simply silenced himself at such words. As the song of war came again TalOS realized that the Emperor must finally travel to the Golden Throne. He only had enough time to say one more sentenced to his Father.
>I love you, Father
>Stay strong
>Do the right thing
>Do not spare Horus.
