>>5747399Yes, Masters of Orion 2 is widely considered to be THE forefather of all 4x space games, and an entire subgenre of "MoO clones" have followed, such as Remnants of the Precursors, or Interstellar Space Genesis. Strangely enough it's actually not nearly as generic as it sounds; it's a lot different from something like Space Empires, Galactic Civilizations, or Stellaris.
>I like my sci-fi and fantasy entirely human focusedWe have strangely opposite tho similar tastes in Spaceslop. I like my freakshit as much as the next guy but I don't like it mixed. I like either a fully human setting (which makes the alien stand out more) OR having a variety of races with humans just being one. Endless Space pisses me off for this reason; as there are multiple alien factions and like 5 human factions (though Horatio doesn't really count). Either pick one or the other. (Though Endless Space 2 mostly fixes this and is also very good. If you dislike games with shitty UI or UX then Endless Space 2 is basically the best 4x game ever created, not embellishing.)
If you're still taking game recommendations; Star Control 2 is another massive cult classic and an absolute banger. May be more up your alley with more story driven stuff, though there are plenty of weird aliens. I HIGHLY advise you to go into it blind before playing it if you do; as you will get the most out of it before the LORE is spoiled to you by others online.
>Quake & Arcade ShootersHow strange. I had a very similar interest in the same thing; going so far as to consider running a quest with some elements borrowed from them. Quake-like FPS games are certainly more of my forte compared to something like COD. In fact, one of my favorite thing about Quake Champions are the maps- similar to the classic "Facing Worlds" Unreal Tournament map. The vibe of a weird fortress or chunk of a world up in the orbit of a planet or in some weird void is such a cool aesthetic- a "Cosmic Space Arena" as it were. Very rarely done. With my limited game experience the other game with amazing maps like this would be Demigod, the stand-alone MOBA that was made before MOBAs became popular. That game has some of the best maps I've ever seen in a game.
You have a strangely eclectic taste that keeps knocking into mine. Please keep it on your side of the bed, weirdo.
