The two stared at one another, a burning hatred from one to the other. The idea of being treated so lowly was something that a Prince should never experience from his equal. He should not be putting up with such a reprimand!
But then he focused upon his fellow. There was no malice, no desire to bring him down. Fredric simply asked him that question because he could.
“In those moments I had completed what our forefathers could only have dreamed of. In the moment of Navaros Dominus’s death I had completed the greatest feat known to our Knights yet.” He answered as a fist was raised into the sky in remembrance, “I avenged Atlas.”
“I… wonder how the greater galaxy will hear of that deed.” Answered Prince Alexander as he spoke once again. “There has only been three times that has happened yet. One killed by Horus Lupercal, and the other two by the Master of Mankind.”
“So… I’ve done something only demi-gods have done before.”
Fredric gave a small nod as he heard the hope within the man’s voice, “While I have killed a Gargant that is of the God-Machines, yours is of one who might be equal to a Primarch. Your name will be sung by the greatest of bards for all years to come.”
Alexander felt himself go silent again as he thought about those words. The honor of being known as a Demi-God slayer placed upon him. But in the end he held himself up with honor, and as he looked upon his fellow he had only one word to say.
“Thanks.”
“You are welcome.” Answered the Prince as he handed the peeled apple, “We both serve the Machine God, there should no longer be animosity between us.”
There was a small chuckle from the Prince as he took the apple, “We shall see. I believe my legend is becoming greater than yours.”
“Then I shall endeavor to beat it.” The Prince answered back as the door opened.
And in that moment the two looked upon the metal mask of a giant. While they were not gripped by his presence, their knowledge of him did.
“May I come in?” Asked the man as he stood at the door.
“You are allowed, Sanctus Dominus.” Answered Prince Alexander as he tried his best to give a bow.
