>>5663353There was the obvious one. You had no idea if the Hellwings were here or not. In fact, there’d been very little news on them at all. From what you were able to gather from rumors and hearsay, they’d been active during the war, often times flying covert missions for the Empire. Naturally, as was befitting of your one-time brother, anywhere he went death followed. Rex d’Rusalka, the Empire’s strongest wyvern lord. Could you beat him? Perhaps. You’d grown much stronger since he’d last seen you, experiencing countless fighting against powerful opponents and garnering no shortage of magic that could shred through a wyvern. But you weren’t sure. There was no doubt that Rex had also grown stronger and feasted on a plethora of foes. Rex had always seemed an insurmountable mountain. Growing up, the idea that you could one day become stronger than him had the same likelihood as you suddenly growing wings. An impossible daydream a child might have. Truthfully, you held no grudge against him. Though he would often tease you, almost to the point of bullying, you felt that he did like you on some level. He’d welcomed you into his home, and held no grudge or disdain against you, an adopted child of his father. When you’d last seen each other during the Mock Battle, he even seemed almost proud of how much you’d matured. If the Goddess was merciful, Rex was somewhere else presently indisposed.
“The Hellwings.” You answer Ingrid. “Rex d’Rusalka’s company. They’re the most veteran of all the Empire’s wings. If we face them, it could spell trouble.”
“I see…” Ingrid gives you a look. It isn’t judgmental or suspicious, but she seems to sense your internal conflict. She knows your background well. “I’ve heard much about the Sky Shadow. They say he’s quite strong. Should we face them out there…perhaps it would be best if you left him to me? You can deal with his subordinates.”
Ingrid seems to be throwing you a bone here.
