Then…you heard cawing.
It started off small—barely noticeable amidst the chaos. But then it grew louder—to the point where you were unable to ignore it. It swelled to a great cacophony of bird cries as a black mass spiraled down from the open star portal. There were enough birds there to blot out the sky from where you were standing. And they might have plunged the construction site into artificial night…if it weren’t for her.
There was just one girl floating amidst the storm. One girl with long, braided purple pigtails, and outerwear that was unmistakably Nordic in design.
She raised what looked like a staff, and all those arcs of electricity that Hi-Vo had been firing drastically altered course, and flowed into it.
Your heart sank, then. You didn’t know what you were going to do about something like that!
And the worst part? It was the cawing. It drowned out everything, filling the sky and your ears with…laughter.
The birds were laughing. It was a maniacal cackle that bordered on obnoxious, and you wanted nothing more than for all of them to just shut up! They were so damned loud! You couldn't even hear Ben's quips over this racket!
You clutched your ears and opened your mouth to let out a scream!
“SHUT! UP!”
The words flew out of your mouth…and every bird went dead silent. Your words had cracked like a whip, and they were barely recognizable to your own ears, but they were undoubtedly your own.
Suddenly, everyone turned to stare at you, waiting to see what you would do next. You were wondering that as well.
What will you say/do?
>(Turn to Gorgolla) “Help us get out of here, and I’ll see about getting that banishment lifted.”
>Shout something else. Maybe it’ll work again. (Write-in.)
>Utter a short prayer to Khonshu, and clutch your magic mummy hand. You’re not sure what it does, but you’ll take buckets of blood over a useless bandage.
>Make a b-line for the archer girl’s ship. She’s pretty much controlling the battlefield from up there.
>Have Ben cover you while you search for Ana, the Mask Maker and Shaggy. They’re probably fighting their own battle right about now.
>Write-in.
