>>5787151You all looked over at the voice, and its source: Izirina Henzler, who WAS competition, even if it didn’t feel so much like it these days.
“I just wanted to say,” she said, “it’s well-earned, and I look forward to next year.”
Initiated Arcanists (or, more commonly, ‘Senior Initiates’) did indeed spend most of their classes together with those of the same level, in all their various disciplines, under advanced multidisciplinary proctors. The Hawksong mages’ Tower might produce its fair share of specialists, but NO graduate from this academy was allowed the title of Graduated Mage Practitioner without a basic command of every discipline… Which, you realized, presented a particular issue to Izirina.
“…Me too,” you said, voice thoughtfully. “And, uh, you too. It’s well-earned, Izirina.”
“So, another year down,” Testa interjected, adjusting her—YOUR—hat upon her head. “What’s the plan, Pearce?”
“Well, it’s a big one,” Pearce said thoughtfully, hand on chin—where a small, scruffy beard had begun, you noticed, and which he was now prone to rub when thinking as if it might grow faster for the attention. “I could ask my parents about allowing us to use the guesthouse out on the farm… You know, dancing, drinks, a proper thing of it for the week?”
“Why?” Efron asked, and gestured to you. “The guest of honour won’t be there!”
“I made it last year,” you protested.
“Yeah, BARELY, for a BIT of it. You spent the rest of the week off with your fairy friends wherever it is you go!”
In actuality, you’d already MET your obligations as a Disciple of the True Fey for the year, when you brought baked goods and lagomorphs to Old Maple Hill a couple months prior. Still, you mulled over your options before you answered, and decided to spend the week…
>Checking in on your father’s progress, and perhaps meeting more of your human family[Possibility to acquire a non-magic skill]
>Tutors Izirina Henzler in Life Magic, and perhaps learning a little bit of the advanced magic which SHE had mastered to better prepare for next year[Possibility to learn a magical ability outside your core discipline]
>Arranging a meeting with the Archmage, to discuss the treatment of animals in the Chimericism program[A chance to advance your Chimericism and gain clout in the Tower… or lose it.]
>At this farmhouse party, with friends and whoever they planned to invite, carousing and socializing and letting off some steam[Gain some social skill, possibly bond further with one or more friends]
>Returning to Old Maple Hill after all—in truth, you still hoped to check on your jackalopes and fairy friends, and perhaps to learn some more magic[Potentially gain some Feycraft or Natural philosophy ability, and maybe a spell]
