You nod, pausing a moment to digest everything she’s said. It’s really not surprising that this enemy has the world by the delicates - the sheer effort alone of trying to patrol the global ocean against these monsters would be murderous on the world’s navies and air forces. The Abyssals wouldn’t even have to be dangerous in and of themselves or particularly numerous - the threat of them alone would be a huge problem. They might be able to defeat the world by sheer attrition.
But they are indeed dangerous. Perhaps not to the USN of the twenty-first century, most of the time, at least, but to the hundreds of nations without advanced militaries, they represent a grave threat.
