You two watch Bray go like the wind…
“You know, if I was someone else, I would’ve questioned you for not knowing your own classmate.” You say it so monotonously that Vera can’t tell if you are joking or not.
“To put it out there, I just transferred. Don’t think I’m callous for that.” Vera justifiably thinks there are better reasons to think she’s not nice. Or maybe she needs to word her responses better. “Why are you saying that?”
“I don’t even remember mine.” You slowly start pushing the wheelchair forwards. “We don’t need to rush if we use your powers.”
“Don’t over-rely on this. I get tired using my powers. Magic is not easy on my precious body.” Vera wants to chit-chat while moving. She seems to enjoy talking to you a lot.
“That’s fine. I’ll make another tasty meal to recover your stamina waiting for you. With some cheese.” You wiggle your eyebrows.
“Look. It’s NOT fair that you equate cheese to the rat stuff. Everyone likes cheese. You like cheese, I saw you eat it. Don’t deny it.” Vera crosses her arms in annoyance.
“I’m not obsessed with it.” You shrug.
“That’s a form of denial.” Vera didn’t like your response. “Like, are you a vulture for eating meat? Hmm? Like you chow down on a burger and say ‘mmm, delicious corpse, caw, caw’?”
“There are vegan burgers.” You get petty.
“Oh, please, don’t give me that, Noodles.” Vera had to go there.
The pointless conversation continues as you follow Bray’s steps. It doesn’t take long to find him hiding in a trash container in the first alleyway after all those terraced houses. He really thought he could trick you.
“Kick it.” Vera demands, she’d do it herself if she could.
“Sure.” You kick the container. It hurt your feet. You’re not going to mention it.
“We know you’re in there, Palm-head. There’s no point in running, we will find you no matter what.” Vera sounds annoyed.
“It’s way past lunchtime anyway.” You point out.
“I don’t eat garbage!” An annoyed Palm head comes out of the container! “You eat garbage!”
“I mean, Fronties wasn’t that bad, was it?” You ask Vera.
“D-Don’t change the subject.” Vera wants you to focus. “It’s time for you to explain yourself!”
