At the behest of the Exalted Kyria Eustace, your stay is extended whilst you tour the isle of warriors with her. Most notably there is palaestra, where every form of training from swordplay to wrestling in the nude occurs; the marina, where ships are not only made but ship-poard action and beach landing exercises are conducted, as well as the agora which serves as both a sort of meeting place and market without any clear price structure. In fact the latter is more like a communal warehouse, with any off-duty Stratiokas picking what they need from the available wares brought in from the main city by slaves. If there is some sort of system to prevent theft or wholesale theft, you do not pick up on it.
It is clear that your part at least in Eustace and Militades expedition was left out upon their return. While few Cathagi here aside from the fluent Kyria Helena speak more than a word or two of the Cantonian tongue, you find yourself the center of attention on more than one occasion. The warrior caste of Cathagi view you as some of an eccentric oddity. One the one hand you are self-evidently an exoria barbarian and natural rival of their kind by virtue of your Romani origin, on the other you are clearly a skilled warrior that came to their Exalted’s aid and were ultimately not a small player in the winning hand of whatever political game they play at the Crescent Palace.
The most familiar faces during your tour are Kyria Eustace, of course, but also the sharp-tongued Kyria Helena and the somewhat dour Kyrios Leon. You find much to discuss during your time here but, as warriors all, conversation during your stay almost always leads to…
>SELECTED #33: A discussion on strategy, tactics, famous historical battles and differing approaches to warfare between your two cultures. Gender and aside, the two of you are self-evidently alike in the sense you are both warriors and elevated status in society. Your father, Lord Nikolai Andrei, was still a squire in the wanning years of the Border Wars but your grandfather was a man grown when the ships of the Cathagi invasion first landed on Romaine’s shores. There is a shared history here, bloody as it is, and warriors love this type of talk. [War Stories]
>Write in: Discuss specifically their past wars with the peoples of the south
>Write in: Compare their stellar light infantry role and whether they have any options regarding available heavy infantry and shock calvary roles.
The Stratiokas Caste fields one of, if not the, finest light infantry formations in the world. Peltasts and slingers screen the flanks and forward assault cohorts while the solid phalanxes of the hoplites march inexorably onward. Although the Stratiokas hoplites may not be as well armoured as many of the levies that Canton, depending on the wealth of the Lord raising them, they certainly compensate for it in discipline.
