“I’m sorry for your loss.” you said, staring at the still figure being carried off by formally dressed vampires. “Is there anything that I can do to help?”
Morbius turned to you and smiled ruefully. “Actually, we could use some help removing the silver from the premises. It is difficult for us to touch it, even with protective equipment.”
You nodded and had him point out where the largest accumulation of it had been detected. You and Cindy spent the next hour and half scouring the ruined nightclub with metal detectors, prying chunks of silver shrapnel out of the walls, ceiling and floors. You and a few others made use of pliers, powerful magnets and various other tools to remove the precious metals.
While you worked, you shared everything that you’d learned since the last time you had spoken to him. You left names out, of course. Including those of Anastasia and Louise. Upon hearing that you had encountered two vampire hunters, and were now pursuing the trail of a third, Morbius was pleasantly surprised. You doubted that either of them would do anything like this, so you felt the need to mention that as well.
This attack was far too indirect for someone as hot blooded as Anastasia. And Louise’s methods were far more discreet. However, you weren’t about to divulge sensitive information about either women to Morbius, and vice versa.
You reported your success in taking down Baron Blood, Snowsnake, and Carpathian, as well. He gave you a wolfish grin as soon as you confirmed that you’d unloaded an entire clip of silver bullets into Snowsnake’s unprotected face. She must’ve been one of the ones that he was the most worried about. Carpathian was also troublesome due to his aerial maneuverability. The way that he described the Baron made him sound like a rabid dog, and after your encounter with him, you couldn’t entirely disagree with him. At least the other two managed to employ some manner of strategy, even if Snowsnake was the brains, AND the brawn behind the operation.
Lastly, you mentioned that you were planning on visiting the Midnight Mission after this. And to your surprise, he nodded his approval.
“The Moon Knight is a bit odd, but he is a trustworthy and stalwart defender of those that travel during the night.” he confidently said.
“Wait. ‘Moon Knight’? Does that have anything to do with…?” you asked, glancing in Cindy’s direction.
Morbius gave you another slight nod. “I believe they worship the same God, but their methods of worship are very different. Also, I do not think that Marc Spector agrees with the cult’s leadership.”
So he’s against the cult, but he worships the same God? Maybe that’s why he wants to talk to Cindy. She did say that she was being raised to be an important figure in their organization. Your worries were only beginning to multiply with this additional information. You were suddenly very glad that Matt was coming with you.
