Perhaps it was folly of you to try and harvest the energy of the shrine without enough sacrificial prisoners. But nothing that can't be alleviated with some good hunting. Some demons would be easily found; capturing would be the trickier part, so you might wish to hold off.
At any rate, the tower ruins you would visit as well; there was not much of note there. A few scorched and bleached-out books were scattered here and there, but whoever owned this tower has long since left, and the demons have so thoroughly vandalised it that there's not much of use here.
There is one thing of note, however: under a rock Mortharn lifted with one arm, there lay a piece of a rod, made of black metal and intricately decorated with gold. It was obviously part of something greater, but the pieces had been scattered to the four winds.
Still, for now you have a medium-term goal: to power up and open that shrine by sacrificing as many prisoners as you must, mortals and fiends alike, as well as any other outsiders you could get your hands on.
But for now, you must first see to it that the warband has something to do; aimlessly trekking over the wastes is kind of pointless, and there are things that must be done now.
>We shall go demon hunting; it is time for some sport.
>Let us go to the volcano.
>We shall drift south and enter the city there.
>Trek further west; from there I shall further deduce where we shall go.
