>>5757337>“You heard what that little rat said back there, no? There’s a commanding officer from the Faerghus Dukedom here doing his best to hold things together. I’ll try and take him out. Though we have the enemy at a major disadvantage, and victory is all but assured, I’d still prefer it if we could avoid any unnecessary slaughter. The less we wear ourselves down fighting before the next big battle, the better.”“Always thinking a step ahead, aren’t you?” Leif says. “Well, do whatever you like. Just remember to make a nice introduction for us later to your bosses here.” Leif heads for the front alongside the rest of the Sreng warriors he’d brought with him.
>“Ava, Diana, you’re with me. Ashe, follow our Sreng friends along and make sure they don’t get up to anything uncouth. After this is all over, come find me and we’ll speak more about all this.”Ashe wordlessly nods and complies. As you watch him chase after Leif and the others, you can only hope that the damage done to his psyche and heart isn’t entirely irreparable.
Taking flight on Beathan, you and your allies are granted a bird’s eye view of the entire battlefield. As Ava reported, the eastern side of the monastery has collapsed, allowing for a small army to pass through and enter. Doubtless this is what the Orthodox commanders had been hoping for, but unfortunately for them, they find their progress to be completely halted. A small number of Knights of Seiros have taken up position in the gap left behind by the wall’s collapse. Though not numerous, their heavily armored infantry stands strong and in formation, allowing none to pass by. This is in sharp contrast to that of the enemy’s own formation, which has been thrown into disarray after the Sreng attack. Amidst the scrambling soldiers running around and panicking, you can make out a man shouting orders on a horse.
“Form up ranks!” The paladin shouts. “Don’t let them beat us back after we’ve come this far! Push through the wall!”
Judging by his air of authority and how the older soldiers responded to him, you figured this to be the Adrian that Fritz spoke of. If so, there was nothing to do but squash him in front of his men and hopefully put an end to this battle. Adrian continues barking orders at his men until he notices a shadow overtake him. Looking up and squinting, he spots you and your allies descending upon him.
