You can hear Joe and Booker talking in the other room. You don't think they know you can hear them!
What? You're going to listen to them anyway?
"Earlier, when you said Amphibikite didn't start out that way, what did you mean?" That was Joe's voice!
"Mons aren't born knowing how to use their special abilities. They need a human trainer to unlock them. When I started training Amphibikite, he couldn't fly. Heck, he could barely glide. And his Hurrinado attack? He would have knocked himself out."
"You mean they can't use them without a human trainer?"
"Most mons go their entire lives without ever using any of their special abilities."
You don't hear them talking for a few moments and then you hear Booker's voice!
"That girl you're traveling with. She doesn't speak much, does she? And I'm not even going to ask about the jacket!"
"Uh... you were saying something about unlocking the special abilities of mons?"
"Mons need the mental connection to their human trainer to develop their abilities. Without a human trainer, a mon will remain the way it was born. For example, a Catscan needs a human trainer to help it perform a Tele-Fission attack, and a Ripmunk needs a human trainer to be able to Swell."
For a moment you don't hear anything, but then you hear their chairs creak and you hear Joe's voice!
"I should get to sleep. Thank you for letting us spend the night here."
You hear Joe walking down the hall to his room and close his door!
What? It seems like Booker is still awake?
