>>5145030The group clustered around as you began to be fed information, of course all of you knew the process. For your entire training you have spent long nights alone imagining how this would transpire. You had thought it would have been more heroic. You have to link in a rush to save your friends, like in a novel. The staff dictated a small refresher for everyone before you jump into the violent sea to swim. With the basics covered many of the crew and commanders appeared. A few pilots stood out among them, scarred men and women. Yuga watched you intently, for the entire time you ever knew her this was the first to witness her placid and distant eyes change. You swore a thin smile even plastered her lips. The commanders talked among themselves, clear to be observers or take little part in helping their trainees.
Soon the time arrived, the staff dressed in thicker gear than the heavy suit appeared. Dr. Yumigawa called out for the first tester to apply. Or they'd start in alphabetical order. The hesitation kept any from volunteering to be first. There was a wide selection of Emperor class Phobos to pick from. A slim and lanky one was on the far left, it's thin frame would limit the amount of heavy weaponry it could carry. But it would be far more agile than any emperor class Phobos had any right to be. To the right of it was a drastic difference, the core was almost twice as large. The numerous nerves capable of interfacing with multiple weapon systems at the same time. Such a heavy weight would make it a slow behemoth, a battleship on land. In the center sat a mix of the two, the classic emperor class. It's armor is sharp and sleek. The majority of the machines are hidden under tarp.
The Phobos would work well in most situations, while not outgunning plenty of weapon platforms it would be faster than any of the largest kinds. Stepping forward the pilots quickly parted, not wanting to be accidentally chosen first. Ruki followed after you. The doctor waved you both over as the armored people crowded around you. You knew every Phobos was unique. They would help elaborate further. The sub designs, obviously not man made. But man had the hand in naming them. Three stood out to you. The men listed off the weapon and armor possibilities, of course they weren't sure. You knew that. No one had linked with any yet.
