There follows a drawn out silence as the Chapter Master strokes his beard, looking now out the window into the City. You hold your tongue until given leave to speak, your eyes settling on more of the odd artefacts scattered about the room. A map detailing the City and surrounding countryside, with white, black and green pins dotted across it denoting a significance that escaped it. A tarnished shield that bears the red gauntlet wreathed in fire, not seen since the last Crusades Adamant retook this place hundreds of years ago. Beneath it dangling from a long thin silver chain is a censer, an incense burner that easily double as a mace. Finally, you glance sideways at the glass case on the Chapter Master’s desk, framed in what appears to be a solid gold reliquary. In it on a velvet cushion rests a single dark scale, roughly the size of a human hand.
“I’m not asking you to confirm or deny the rumours, but suffice to say whether or not you intended it your arrival here has become a point of contention among many of the pilgrims.” The tone of the Chapter Master indicates that the pilgrims you arrived with are not barring other pilgrims access to the Sanctum, but you doubt he would have summonsed you if that was not a distinct possibility in his mind’s eye. “Differences of theology and personal are inevitable in a place like this, but my rule and my duty is that any such are laid to rest, or at least respected, before we embark on this Long Walk together. Wouldn’t you agree?”
“Of course, your holiness.” Unlike Gilles de Moray, Tomas Callahan does not right now invite you to call him the lesser rank of ‘Brother’.

> “I’m honoured to be thought of so highly by my fellow pilgrims. But of course access to the Sanctum is your charter, and your decision.” [Haughty]
> “Let me speak to them, I will convince them to put aside this divisive foolishness. The Sanctum is for all.” [Hearty]
> “Perhaps… If there is anywhere that I am likely to hear the Angel’s voice again, the Salve Sanctum is surely it.” [Idealist]
