How much realism do you enjoy in spaceship games?
The setup I have on virtual tabletop currently looks like this.
I wonder how much realism people want in space opera games, that projectrho website is really intimidating with all the SPACE ORBIT EQUATIONS lol. I think some anon here mentioned in the past their critique of how space opera becomes a bit meaningless because it is like a "space village" or planet theme park / shopping mall, because in real life the distances are so mindshatteringly vast in terms of millions of parsecs lol everything is just empty, so people resort to the planet hopping space theme park feel (think how Mass Effect does the exploring planets etc).
I am however ok with this cliche and the cliches of the ecumenopolis (eg Asimov Trantor) city planet or the 1-biome ice planet desert planet jungle planet swamp planet etc. The way I imagine it is you can roll to determine the habitability of planets which affects the economic viability and value of the planet systems etc. You can also write in names and ideas as to what to do with the planets colonised, but they will probably require some development first before becoming revenue generating. See the economics here
>>5718126>>5718127Some planets may have more than 1 biome, they are probably worth more but rarer.
Also in my setting I think it is probably human only, no xeno things the star trek HUMAN BUT WITH FOREHEAD KNOBS LOOK AT MY TIGER STRIPE HEAD KNOBS I cannot handle this. Heavily cybernetic / posthuman type entities probably ok, but all factions mostly human derived. Maybe there will be theriomorphic uplifts (THE FURRIES?) hmmm no.
>Invent name for space game>Realism, yes or no?>ALIEN PEOPLE WITH THE KNOBS ON HEADS??no (please)
>Do people want to upload their own commander portraits?>Upload their own ship pictures?(maybe I should just provide everything etc)
